Keynote, Day 1

Robert Nishihara is one of the creators of Ray, a distributed system for scaling Python and machine learning applications. He is one of the co-founders and CEO of Anyscale, which is the company behind Ray. He did his PhD in machine learning and distributed systems in the computer science department at UC Berkeley. Before that, he majored in math at Harvard.

Ion Stoica is a co-founder and Executive Chairman of Anyscale. He is also a professor in the EECS Department at the University of California at Berkeley, and the Director of SkyLab (https://sky.cs.berkeley.edu/). He has been the co-creator of several open source projects, including Ray, Apache Spark, Apache Mesos, and Alluxio. In addition to Anyscale, he was the founding CEO of Databricks (2013), and also co-founded Conviva (2006)

Ya joined LinkedIn in 2013 and has since been a driving force in transforming LinkedIn into a Data First company. As Head of Data and AI, Ya leads a global team of ~1,000 data scientists and AI engineers whose work is at the core of delivering economic opportunities to LinkedIn's members and customers. Her emphasis on Responsible AI and Data Science ensures that LinkedIn's AI systems put people first, enable us to empower our members, better serve our customers, and benefit society. In addition to her work at LinkedIn, Ya has co-authored a book, entitled "Trustworthy Online Controlled Experiments", was named to Fortune's 40 under 40 in tech, and was nominated for VentureBeat's Women in AI Awards. She has delivered countless speeches, including a commencement speech to Stanford's Class of 2019 in Mathematics, Statistics, and Mathematical & Computational Science. Prior to LinkedIn, she worked at Microsoft and received a PhD in Statistics from Stanford University.

John now leads a team working on ChatGPT and RL from Human Feedback at OpenAI, where he is co-founder. His previous work includes foundational algorithms of deep RL (TRPO, PPO), generalization in RL (ProcGen), mathematical reasoning by language models (GSM8K), combining RL with retrieval (WebGPT) and studying scaling laws of RL and alignment. In his free time, he enjoys running, jazz piano, and raising chickens.

Sidney is currently Head of Product at Anyscale where he leads the Product Management and UX teams.

Sidney has a wealth of experience across a range of technologies and was a member of the senior leadership teams at Riverbed, NGINX, F5, and Google. He has been responsible for driving the success of some of the most well-known products in their spaces including: NGINX, Wireshark, and productizing YouTube's infrastructure as Google Cloud's Media CDN. His areas of expertise include AI/ML, Enterprise Networking, Observability / AIOps, Modern App / API infrastructure, and Streaming Media.

Sidney has also held roles in Sales, Consulting, and Engineering at Packeteer, HP, and IBM. Sidney holds a MBA from Baruch College and a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Justin Boitano is vice president of enterprise software at NVIDIA, where he leads enterprise AI software offerings that power modern data centers through full-stack accelerated computing.

NVIDIA's AI business has grown exponentially in recent years, empowering organizations to harness the full potential of accelerated computing and generative AI. As the pioneer of accelerated computing, NVIDIA aims to increase performance, lower overall cost, and increase energy efficiency in the era of AI.

Since joining NVIDIA in 2008, Justin has led multiple business areas at the company, including new product initiatives and strategic partnerships across the enterprise and AI ecosystem, where his team has delivered cutting-edge AI solutions to businesses worldwide.

Boitano received his bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Dr. Ameer Haj-Ali is Head of Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and Anyscale LLM Endpoints. Dr. Haj-Ali has helped advance Anyscale's technology from an early open-source machine learning project to becoming de facto standard AI infrastructure powering AI applications at companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, and more. Prior to Anyscale, Dr. Haj-Ali completed his PhD in AI and Systems at UC Berkeley and worked in research and engineering at Intel Labs and NVIDIA.
